AFDA (The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live performance) in Cape Town is pleased to announce that well-known artist management expert, Kerry Friedmann has been appointed as Business Lecturer in the musical performance department.
“Kerry specializes in the Business of Creativity; bridging the gap between the corporate world and the world of artistic expression and technical execution,” says Chairman of AFDA, Garth Holmes, “As a lecturer at AFDA she will focus on providing first hand knowledge of a variety of practical business elements that go into the arts and creating a musical performance or production.”
Kerry, who has a Social Science degree from UCT and various advertising diplomas, has had extensive experience in artist management with the likes of Freshlyground to working with Pink Floyd’s album artwork designer - Storm Thorgerson. Her area of expertise which she will be working with AFDA students include artist management, finances and budgets, production and event co-ordination, tour management, legal logistics such as contracts and copyright, liaison with record companies, publishers, publicists, promoters, studios, press and media, advertising agencies and designers.
